Through a review of the relevant provisions of U.S. law
and various multilateral copyright conventions, this
seminar covers the international components of
copyright, including national eligibility requirements for
and the national treatment of foreign authors. The
course also examines recent developments in the European
Union and the problems of enforcing intellectual property
rights in the less and least developed countries.
Each participant of the seminar is required to make a
presentation to the seminar and write a research paper on a
topic approved by the instructor. The research paper
should constitute original research and be at least 25 pages
(including footnotes). The final paper is due on
December 6, 2002.
This seminar
fulfills the writing requirement.
Prerequisite or Co-requisite: Copyright Law or LL.M. in
Intellectual Property.
